A 14 -year- old school boy was alleged to have raped a 9-year-old girl to death in Ikorodu, Lagos. The nine-year-old girl was alleged to have been raped several times before she gave up the ghost.

The Lagos State Police Command said the deceased identified as Bola was raped over five times by Onyi (other name withheld).

Bola’s father, Simeon, explained that she attended the school established by Onyi’s father and that his daughter revealed that she was raped by Onyi when she was rushed to the hospital.

Simeon, 77, said Bola died on October 3, 2013. “My daughter was a pupil of Fulfilled Greenland School, Ikorodu. She was in primary three. One day, she came home and started complaining of pains around her vagina region and stomach.

“We rushed her to Ikorodu General Hospital where a doctor checked her and after conducting some tests, explained to us that my daughter had sustained medical complications due to forced sexual intercourse.

“I was alarmed by this statement. So I had a private discussion with my daughter and she told me that it was her school proprietor’s son, Onyi that had been raping her. She told me that the boy threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone about it.”

The father who hails from Ondo State said he took his daughter to Arogbo in Ondo State for further medical attention but her condition worsened.

He said although Onyi’s parents visited him in Ondo State and apologised to him and his family, he explained that he could not bear the psychological trauma because his daughter died on the same day.

According to the bereaved, “On getting to the house where my daughter was, we discovered that she was dead. Onyi however confessed that he had been raping my daughter before she died” .

He said immediately news filtered into the ears of youths in the area they attempted to lynch Onyi. “I saved him and quickly reported the matter to the police. He remained at the police station till the following morning after which his parents brought him back to Lagos.”

Simeon said Onyi’s parents alongside a popular chief in Ikorodu area of Lagos begged him to forgive the boy but he refused.

He later reported the matter at Ikorodu Police Station but complained that the policemen at the station did not allow him to make statement but instead wrote down his phone number.

“After waiting for many days without luck, I wrote a petition and the matter was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba,” he alleged.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect was later moved to his hometown in Delta State.

The father of the suspect, Andrew Adimabua, blamed his illegal behaviour on the devil: “I did all my best for that boy. I trained him in the way of the lord and expected so much from him.

“He has confessed to the crime and there is nothing to hide. He told me that he learnt about
sex by watching blue films. We are not hiding him and we will cooperate with the police.

“On the day the little girl died, he was beaten up and made to stay in the rain for hours. As a result, he contracted pneumonia, so we sent him home for treatment. When he recovers, he’ll be taken to the police for questioning. We are not hiding him,” Adimabua said.
