Ambode commissions electrification interventions at Gbaji-Seme border

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday commissioned the electrification interventions at Gbaji – Seme Border in Badagry area of the State, reiterating his administration’s commitment to ensure inclusive growth in order to make life more comfortable for everyone irrespective of their location within the state.

The Governor, who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Mr. Tunji Bello at the ceremony held at Gbaji –Seme community, said the intervention have been long overdue, as thirty communities within the area had been without electricity supply for 16years.

“By this intervention under the “Light Up Lagos” initiative that will tremendously improve the socio-economic well-being of the area, we have demonstrated once again our commitment to inclusive growth”, he said.

He expressed his excitement about the positive impact which the electrification intervention will bring to the people of the communities describing it as a befitting gift to the people of the communities as the state celebrates her golden jubilee anniversary.

He stated that the Government recognizes the positive impact the electrification intervention will bring to the people of the communities and assured the people that they will not be forgotten in the scheme of development going on across the state.

According to him, “We recognize the importance of these communities in facilitating inter State/regional trade as well as ensuring security of life and property. We will therefore, pay greater attention to the provision of infrastructure and basic amenities within these communities”.

Ambode shared in the joy of the residents as the new project will usher a new lease of life to the people of the communities.

He urged the community leaders, the coordinators of Gbaji-Seme Border Youth Initiative and the entire members of the communities to take ownership of the electrification facilities adding that the transformers provided must be protect against any form of theft or vandalistion.
