Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle

His Royal Highness, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro, Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and Chairman of Ogun State Traditional Council.

As the father figure of all Yewa home and abroad, it is not out of place to pen this note to you as we approach yet another privilege of breaking the jinx of our gubernatorial ambition as a people.

Kabiyesi, as 2019 gets closer, I am opined that we can not continue to do same thing same way and expect different result.

Though you ascended the throne of your forefathers in 2012, just after an attempt by the Yewas at the governorship of Ogun State just failed in 2011, one thing which history won’t forget is this – 2015 as the Paramount ruler of the Yewas, your subjects aspired and one contested against the incumbent Governor Amosun, who at that time was a very close ally of yours – I don’t think you both enjoy that cordiality at the moment.

A lot happened in 2015 regarding the shot at Oke Mosan by both Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, Abiodun Akinlade and Segun Adewale and when a prominent political party gave your subject in the name of Gboyega Nasir Isiaka the gubernatorial ticket, posterity would ask you Sir, what was your contribution? You can always answer yourself and the generality of the people of Ogun West know your position through a vox populi.

As we approach 2019, one thing you must learn how to do is to unite all your sons and daughters with any gubernatorial ambition irrespective of political leanings, a case study is what is currently brewing in Ijebu where the Awujale Palace is presently coordinating what they have tagged an Ijebu agenda.

With your influence as the numero uno of all monarchs in Ogun State at the moment you can impress the Yewa agenda into the mind of all eminent monarchs of your class the need for them to support us.

You need to intentionally orchestrate a well mobilized, well packaged and deeply tolerating Yewa agenda where every sons and daughters with any gubernatorial ambition can give you feed backs, stage by stage review and your wealth of influence, contact and connection can be deployed to work. Kabiyesi, don’t you envision a situation where all the three political bloc in Ogun state presents a governorship candidate of Yewa extraction?

I must say this Sir, deliberately you must correct what I personally believe is an erroneous perception of yours that you already have a man in mind to be the governor of Ogun State and like someone said you are even the key player of his political penetration into the state, whoever the person is, good. But what if his party fails to pick him in the place of another Yewa man? Kabiyesi remember you should be father to all.

If a young Yewa man after spending 12 early years of his political adventure in the National Assembly is not well appreciated by you, despite his facilitation of monumental developmental projects to Yewa and hundreds of job facilitations. Who else will? Or a man that has invested his energy, resources and time to serve the state in a little but significant capacity during the Gbenga Daniel administration now wants to be governor and you are not there to show support, how do we get support from other monarchs out of our region? A recently appointed chief of staff to Governor Amosun is a scion of a popular Ilaro political chieftain, is such a young man also not worthy of our Kabiyesi’s moral support?

Alayeluwa, I implore you to build bridge among your subjects, they are the ones who will contest and with Eledumare’s support win in 2019, not you. So its high time you become apolitical and play the fatherly role expected of you

The best you will do for yourself now is to parley, lobby, admonish and ensure all notable political parties and their party chieftains believe in a Yewa agenda.

With all notable parties having a Yewa man on their ballot, we can go home and rest that our long term dream has been achieved and your name will be immortalized as the king that did the magic.

I part with this, a father that does not support the quest of his children would not have the gut to celebrate the victory when it arrives, Kabiyesi, I see you won’t be that irresponsible father.

Sir, I trust you will see through my message, you won’t be deceived by those sycophantic elements around and do the needful now – as time waits for no one.
Thanks
