First Bank of Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of FBN Holdings Plc, has thrown its weight behind the development of trade financing in Nigeria and beyond.

This initiative, according to the bank, in a statement by Folake Ani-Mumuney, Head, Marketing & Corporate Communications, informs the collaborative effort with FBNBank (UK) Limited, a subsidiary of FirstBank to sponsor the 6th Annual West Africa Trade Commodity Conference scheduled for February 4 – 5, 2014 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event which is organised by GTR/Exporta Publishing & Events Limited would convene international and national delegates to include chief financial officers, company treasurers, financial controllers, financial directors, exporters, importers, manufacturers, distributors and traders from various sectors and business concerns.

In a statement, Bisi Onasanya, GMD/CEO of FirstBank, said that the Bank would continue to create and support initiatives that will create business opportunities and investments in Nigeria and the African continent.

“We will continue to grow our mileages in developing trade and commodity finance across the continent”, he said.

The progress FirstBank had made in trade finance is further buttressed by its consistent win of the ‘Best Trade Finance Bank in Nigeria’ by Global Finance Awards for seven years including 2015. FBN Bank (UK) Limited has also been named Best Trade Finance Bank in West Africa for five consecutive years by Global Trade Review Awards.
