Gov Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, on Thursday, lauded achievements recorded by the Nigerian Navy, promising to support their operations in the state in any area they desired.

Akeredolu spoke in Akure during a courtesy visit by the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Sylvanus Agada

He said that the state, with its wide and deep coastline, would be of great benefit to the navy operationally.

The Governor said the area would provide a better atmosphere for training to the navy than many other parts of the country.

Akeredolu urged the navy to take advantage of the opportunities in the state, assuring them of the needed support.

Earlier, Agada congratulated the Governor on his victory in the last gubernatorial election and lauded him for carrying people of the state along in his governance.

Agada, the 37th FOC Western Naval Command, said that he was on tour of units and establishments under his command.

He noted the security challenges in Igbokoda and assured that he would ensure that all the threats were neutralized.

The FOC commended the people for their support for naval activities, saying it contributed to their success so far.

Agada expressed willingness to move some units to Ondo State due to the deep coastline belonging to the state.

“By the time the Nigerian Navy grows the submarine command, if any by God’s grace, definitely we will have to think of a deep area to establish,” he said.
