The Rivers Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the abduction of Golden Chioma, Chairman, Rivers House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, by gunmen in Port Harcourt.
The Spokesman of Police Command in Rivers, DSP Muhammad Ahmad, told journalists in Port Harcourt that investigation into the abduction was ongoing.
“Our detectives from anti-kidnap unit and State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) are on top of the incident to ensure that the legislator is freed unharmed,’’ Ahmad said.
He explained that Chioma was kidnapped on Tuesday, July 8, in Diobu Area of Port Harcourt and taken to unknown destination.
The victim is a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) and representing Etche Constituency in the state assembly.
