Gunmen kidnap retired SSS officer in Taraba

A retired operative of the Department of State Security (DSS), Hosea Danjuma was on Tuesday abducted at his home in Baissa, Kurmi local government area of Taraba state by unknown gunmen.

Danjuma’s kidnap is coming barely two weeks after Hajia Beli Manu, mother of Taraba State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Haruna Manu was kidnapped at her residence in Mutum Biyu, headquarters of Gassol local government area.

Mr Danjuma, who last served at Badagry in Lagos state before he retired in 2015 was kidnapped at about 1.45 am by the gunmen who stormed his residence in a convoy of motorcycles.

Caretaker Chairman of Kurmi local government, Steven Agya said the kidnappers, numbering over fifteen arrived Danjuma’s house in the early hours of Tuesday and threatened to kill whoever attempts to obstruct their operation.

He however disclosed that the council has mobilize youths in the area to join hands with security agents to search for the kidnapped man and rescue him from his abductors.

Also confirming the incident, Police Poblic Relations Officer (PPRO)Taraba State Command, DSP Joseph Kwaji said the command had deployed special squad to rescue the retired officer.

An eyewitness who is also a family member of Danjuma, Miss Adama Danjuma told newsmen that the gunmen destroyed the back gate of the house to gain entrance into the compound.

According to her “They gained entrance into the house after destroying the back door. They came on motorcycles and they were very furious and threatened to shoot at anybody who resist the adoption of my uncle” she stated.
