The Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state-led Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF has congratulated Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress on his victory in last Saturday’s presidential election in the country.
In a statement Tuesday in Abuja and signed by the Secretary and Administrator of the forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, the NGF also hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for what he described as statesman’s concession which will lead the country to its first ever hand over of federal power by an incumbent president.
Jang who urged the President -elect to work towards strengthening the nation’s unity by reaching out to the opposition as he constitutes his government.
The body of governors thanked Nigerians for largely conducting themselves peacefully during the presidential polls and for their commitment to ensuring that democracy was preserved in Nigeria, adding that this was a proof that the democratic system of government has come to stay.
