The Operations Controller, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Sayyadi Abubakar, said the department would no longer grant incessant request for waiver from marketers.

Abubakar made this known at a meeting with petroleum products marketers in Kano on Wednesday.

According to him, anyone wishing to establish a petroleum products retail outlet should contact the department for the necessary requirements for the grant of `Approval to Construct’ (ATC).

Abubakar decried the attitude of some retail outlets owners who tempered with their fuel pumps to short change their customers in spite of warnings against such acts.

“Another disturbing act is selling of petroleum products, particularly kerosene above the regulated price.

“I want to assure members of the public that the department would intensify operations to fish out defaulters selling above the official N50 per litre,’’ he said.

Abubakar also charged the marketers to exhibit safety consciousness in their operations so as not to endanger the lives and property of Nigerians.

He warned that the department would not renew the licenses of substandard filling stations and those that contravened petroleum regulations.

According to him, the department will monitor the stations before renewing their licenses.

The controller commended the Federal Government for ensuring sanity in petroleum products supply and distribution.
