Four prominent sons of Okun extraction in Kogi State, Prof. Eyitayo Lambo, Maj.-Gen. Julius Oshanupin (rtd), Bayo Ojo (SAN) and Tunde Ipinmisho, have denounced their purported support for Dino Melaye in his recall saga.

In a statement jointly signed and made available to journalists in Lokoja Tuesday, they distanced themselves from the media report linking them with support for the embattled senator, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District.

They noted that they read the reports of how their names were mentioned as signatories to the statement by the Okun Development Initiative (ODI) on attempt to recall Melaye (APC, Kogi West) with dismay.

“We wish to state that we do not know ODI and have no relationship with the body in any form whatsoever. It, therefore, follows that we did not and indeed could not have signed any statement for an organisation with which we are not affiliated.

“We have earned our reputation through decades of hard work and would go to any length to resist attempt by anybody or group to draw us into the mess in Kogi State,” the statement read in part.

They said the forgery was unacceptable to them, as they demand an immediate retraction and an apology from those behind it.

Meanwhile, the ODI in a statement by Apostle Olalekan Aiyenigba, quickly drew the attention of members of the public to some faceless individuals who are trying to twist their recent press release on the recall saga as they offered further clarification.

“For the avoidance of doubt, ODI’s position is clear on the irregularities in the recall process so far but there was never any mention of the collated signatures not being of Kogi West constituents though there have been allegations of forgery in the process,” the statement said.
