The Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), said on Friday that it has opted out of the August 9 2014 Osun state governorship election.
In a statement signed by the National Secretary Dr. Oluwole Akinwumi, the party said that it took the decision in June to withdraw Oludare Timothy Akinola as its candidate in the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Osun State and the party has not changed its position in this regard.
The statement said that the decision of the party and its reasons for withdrawing Akinola as its flag bearer was communicated to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the Chairman of PDM in Osun State and Akinola himself.
