Tension grips Kano metropolis as rampaging Muslim youths burn court over alleged blasphemous comment

A Sharia court situated at Rijiyar Lemo area of Kano has been burnt down by a group of irate Muslim youths.

Our correspondent in Kano reports that the youths, in their hundreds, took to the streets protesting an alleged blasphemous comment by a sect member of Tijjaniyya, Malam Abdul Nyass.

The youths marched from various parts of the state holding placards condemning the statement made by the sect member against the holy prophet Muhammad.

As at the time of filing this report, the aggrieved youths are protesting towards Mandawari and Dandago areas as they marched to the Emir of Kano’s palace to lay their complaint.

The youths and some old men were on the streets along with Muslim women condemning the culprit and calling for his punishment according to islamic rites.

The sect’s leader who is a known figure among the followers of Tijjaniyya, reportedly made a statement against prophet Muhammad last week during his usual preaching at Goron Dutse general area of Kano metropolis.

Kano State Police spokesman, ASP Musa Magaji Majia could not be reached as at the time of filing this report, as he did not pick his calls.
