Two soldiers, 12 others killed in renewed Taraba crisis

The Taraba Police Command in Jalingo, have confirmed the death of 14 persons, including two soldiers, in a renewed violence at Ibi, headquarters of Ibi Local Government Area, on Thursday morning.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the stare, Joseph Kwaji, said in Jalingo on Friday that no fewer than 14 houses were razed down.

The spokesperson said 14 suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident and disclosed that two AK 47 rifles and several other dangerous weapons were recovered from them.

He, however, said that normalcy had returned to area after a detachment of mobile policemen and military were deployed to maintain the peace, while investigation into the cause of the crisis had begun.

Hundreds of people have been killed in various ethnic clashes in Taraba in the past year.
