The Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) will continue to develop programmes and training modules that would make the public service to be professionalised in line with global best practices, according to its Administrator/Chief Executive, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo.
He said the PSIN was being repositioned “to enhance the professional, technical, managerial and leadership capabilities of public servants in order to deliver quality service to the Nigerian people.”
He added that as part of the repositioning process, the organisation had developed a strategic plan document that would chart the direction for activities and programmes of PSIN for the next five years.
Obatoyinbo stressed that the strategic plan of PSIN was geared towards “achieving the Federal Civil Service Strategic Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) of the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF)”
A statement issued on Tuesday by the PSIN’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Ekaete Umo, said Obatoyinbo said these during a courtesy call on him by representatives of Public Administration International led by Ms. Denise Smart in Abuja.
The FCSSIP, according to him, aims at transforming the Service to be Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen-Centred.
He informed the PAI representatives that the PSIN was ready to partner with international organisation like PAI to build capacity of staff to position them to provide the needed manpower and professional support in driving the programmes and activities of the Institute towards achieving its mission and vision as well as delivering on its mandate.
The PSIN boss said the agency will require technical support from PAI in this area.
Obatoyinbo said that the PAI could assist by creating linkages and also exposing staff of PSIN to similar organisations in other countries, adding that as a capacity building agency, PSIN had to be abreast of modern-day training techniques and technology.
This, he said, would enhance the capacity and quality of training of the Institute offers.
Smart assured him that the PAI is ready and willing to partner with PSIN in building capacity of staff and also any area that the Institute will require technical support.
