100 prosecuted for traffic offences in Oyo.

The Oyo State sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Yusuf Kolawole Salami has disclosed that over one hundred traffic offenders have been arrested and prosecuted for traffic various offences in the state.

Salami who made the disclosure on Tuesday in Ibadan, the state capital during a familiarization visit to the secretariat of the state council of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), also said that two drivers of articulated vehicles have been jailed by the corps.

According to him “within the last one month which we started enforcement of the law that guides our operations, we have arrested 111 drivers and prosecuted for dangerous driving.

He said further that the command is also fully ready for create awareness and sensitize the public on the need to be more cautious during the ember months,our officers have been duly equipped and trained to enforce and ensure compliance.

“In the metropolis, we are also working towards curbing the abnormal behaviors of the Micra drivers and motorcycle rider popularly called “Okada” we “ll make sure they comply with the usage of safety helmet and overloading.

Speaking on the issuance of drivers licence, the sector commander said, the public should be aware of fake drivers licensing officers as the organization has set up 10 licensing centres in Oyo state to make capturing of data more easier for people.

The state NUJ Chairman, Comrade Gbenga Opadotun commended the sector commander for his effort at ensuring safety of lives on roads and call for more efforts in sensitizing the public about the need to be safety conscious when driving.
