Barely 48 hours after Princess Toyin Omosowon, regent of Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, was kidnapped, her abductors have demanded the sum of N20m as ransom to guarantee her release.

Besides, the Adekunle Ajasin University (AAU) located in the community has been closed down indefinitely because of the development, which involved an official of the institution and the monarch.

Akungba-Akoko residents have been in pensive mood since the regent was kidnapped, while normal academic and commercial activities were at lowest-ebb.

A Community Leader and Seriki of Akungba-Akoko, Chief A. Awesu urged youths to conduct themselves with decorum and embrace peace during this trying time.

According to him, they should pray alongside elders in the town to facilitate quick release of the regent from captivity.

Interdenominational prayer sessions were going on at churches and mosques within the community, while a detachment of police officers drafted to the area were patrolling the town to ensure safety of lives and property.
