Access Bank staff dies in 3rd Mainland Bridge crash

One person, believed to be a staff of Access Bank Plc died while another was critically injured, Tuesday, during a lone accident involving a Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, on the Third Mainland bridge in Lagos.

Eye witness account told our correspondent that the vehicle belonging to Access Bank, was heading towards Iyana-Oworo from  Lagos Island when one of its tyres got burst while on high speed. It tumbled and landed on the median, resulting in the instant death of its driver while a female passenger was critically injured and taken to General Hospital, Gbagada.

An eye witness said that an official of Federal Road Safety Commission,FRSC, was able to provide succour to the victim as she was later taken to the hospital in a private car.

A source at the scene of the accident attributed the incident to over-speeding on the part of the deceased, adding that “the road was very free, so the deceased took advantage of the situation and drove on a high speed and could not control the vehicle.

“Before anyone knew what was happening, he tumbled and landed on the median and died on the spot. Also, his passenger was critically injured and taken to hospital,” he said.
