APC condoles with Lagos explosion victims

The All Progressives Congress, on Sunday, commiserated with victims of a Sunday morning explosion at Abule Ado in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency, the explosion, which occurred near the Trade Fair Complex on the Lagos-Badagry highway, injured scores of residents and students, and destroyed over 50 buildings.

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mele Kyari, in a tweet on Sunday, said, “NNPC pipeline right of way encroachment by gas handling vendors and construction of houses enabled the explosion and aggravated the impact.

“Working with LASG and security agencies to clear the ROW.”

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in a statement, expressed sadness over the incident and lauded the emergency responders.

Issa-Onilu said, “We commend the emergency response led by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, the Fire Service and other agencies in quickly containing the incident and attending to injured victims of the explosion.

“While the party deeply condoles with families and loved ones over recorded deaths, we also wish the injured a speedy and full recovery and sympathise with residents who lost property in the explosion.

“We are confident that the Lagos State Government will implement measures to bring succour to the victims.”
