Suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have bombed another mosque in Adamawa capital, Yola, few hours after the insurgent group struck at a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno state capital.

The blast, according to sources, happened as worshipers were about to observe Jumat prayers and left at least 18 Muslim worshippers killed and about 60 injured.

“They planted the bomb inside the mosque and many lives were lost in the attack, because of the number of worshipers there,” the source said.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the figures.

Survivors said the teenage bomber who disguised as worshipper detonated the explosives in the premises after failing to reach the main building.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa, DSP Othman Abubakar confirmed the death of many worshippers in the suicide bombing.

Rescue workers have started evacuating corpses and wounded victims to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola in several pick up trucks.

Spokesman of hospital, Adamu Dodo said the hospital had received several victims in critical conditions appealing for blood donation from members of the public.
