The Kaduna State Branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Thursday called for the establishment of a police mobile force and a unit of the Nigerian Army in southern Kaduna.
The chairman of the association, Bishop George Dodo, who made the appeal at a news conference in Kaduna, said that the measure would help to curb attacks on the people.
He said the measure had become necessary in the wake of deteriorating security situation in Kaduna State.
“In the light of the happenings in Southern Kaduna, government and its security organ should have a strong mobile police and an equally strong unit of the Nigeria Army in the southern senatorial district.”
He also urged security agents to comb bushes in Southern Kaduna, particularly between Kaura Local Government Area, Riyom and Barki Ladi in Plateau, to arrest perpetrators of the attacks.
“Comb the areas and fish out the perpetrators of these evils. The criminals are not spirits; they are human beings and must be fished out and dealt with in the interest of the security of lives and property of our people,” Dodo said.
The chairman said that people in the country should not allow themselves to be used by politicians, using religion to cause division among the populace.
