The Lagos state government has restricted religious and social gatherings to 20 people over the coronavirus outbreak.
The government made the announcement on Saturday, advising people to adhere strictly to the directive.
The state government had banned gatherings of over 50 people, explaining that it would be easier to trace that number of people if the need arises.
“The Lagos State Government has banned all religious pr social gathering of over 20 people within the State,” it said.
“It is important we all adhere to this directive.”
Nigeria confirmed 10 new cases of the coronavirus on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 22.
But two patients have recovered from the disease.
Osagie Ehanire, minister of health, said the infection is in three states in addition to the federal capital territory (FCT) — Lagos, Ekiti, and Ogun.
The three cases in Abuja were said to have returned from abroad between March 14 and 18.
The minister also said the 10 new cases are Nigerians, and that nine of them have travel history to Canada, France, The Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom and returned in the past one week, while the tenth case is a close contact of a previously confirmed case.
As part of the measures to curb the spread of the disease, the federal government placed travel restrictions on 15 countries and barred international flights coming into Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.
