The Police Command in Ogun State on Tuesday said it arrested 19 suspected criminals, including a couple, in December 2013.

The couple, who reside in Ogbere in Ijebu-East Local Government Area of the state, were found in possession of four locally-made pistol and three live cartridges.

The other exhibits recovered from the couple were four rifles allegedly stolen from security operatives, mobile phones, assorted charms and N255,000

The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, presented the suspects to newsmen at the Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Adejobi said in December 2013, the police at Ogbere Division got information that the occupants of a house at J4 Area on Abigi Road were terrorising innocent citizens.

He said the police swung into action, arrested the couple and recovered the weapons from them.

The spokesman, who said the police were still investigating the case, gave assurances that the couple would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.

He restated the determination of the command to curtail crime in 2014 and solicited the cooperation of the public in combating criminal activities.
