A Kaduna High Court on Wednesday picked August 2 for the arraignment of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife, Zinat.

The presiding Judge, Justice Gideon Kurada, said the decision was to enable the prosecution get two other persons standing trial with the Shiites leader.

The prosecution counsel, Chris Umar, said the 3rd and 4th respondents in the trial have not been served with the court process.

El- Zakzaky’s counsel, Maxwell Kyom, corroborated his colleague’s claim, saying two other respondents in the trial have not been served with the court process.

Kyom, who declined to mention the names of the 3rd and 4th respondents, said “the 3rd and 4th respondents are not necessarily in the matter until they have been served.”

The counsel said they had filed their bail application in court and the prosecution had also filed their response though it was late.

“We have applied for a short date to reply the prosecution’s counter affidavit,” Kyom added.
