COVID-19: Nigeria logs 26 new cases, 410 recoveries

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 26 new positive samples of coronavirus on Saturday, raising the tally to 166,756 infections.

The latest COVID-19 cases were recorded in five states, according to the agency’s update for June 5, 2021.

Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Lagos accounted for the highest number of infections with eight cases each.

Trailing the three states is Bayelsa (1) and Kaduna (1).

The agency also confirmed that 410 patients were discharged on Saturday after recovering from the infection, bringing the country’s recovery count to 162,994.

However, no death from COVID-19 complications was reported on Saturday.

Currently, Lagos accounts for the highest figure of fatalities with 456 deaths, followed by Edo and the federal capital territory (FCT), with 185 and 166 deaths, respectively.

A total of 2,177 coronavirus deaths have been recorded across Nigeria.
