Former Executive Director, Tita-Kuru Petrochemicals Limited, one of the companies chaired by the former Defence Minister, LT. Gen. Theophillus Danjuma(rtd), Manasseh Zorto has petitioned President Goodluck Jonathan to prevail on Danjuma to stop violating his rights despite competent court’s orders.

In an open letter by The Concerned Citizens of Taraba signed by its Chairman,Adi Yohanna and Secretary, Bulus Paul, Danjuma was alleged not to be happy that Manasseh, a Jukun stock like him resigned his appointment and that the retired general had since being using his powers to victimise Manasseh.

The group alleged that Manasseh had been quizzed by the police on the orders of the former army general, over some financial dealings in the company.

The group further said that all the accounts managed by Manasseh have been audited by KPMG Auditors and there was no indictment of any sort bordering on mismanagement of funds but said that Danjuma still using the police to harass, intimidate and arrest Manasseh without any just cause.

They claimed that Manasseh had through his lawyers, Rickey Tarfa, SAN and Co, to file a suit at the Federal High Court Ikoyi, Lagos to compel Danjuma to stop the victimisation, stressing that  the court on August 13, 2013 ruled among others that the arrest of the Applicant by officers of the Nigeria Police Squad Fraud Unit,Milverton, Ikoyi at Zeina Suites Limite without any legal justification is wrongful, legal and unconstitutional as it is a gross violation of the Applicant’s Fundamental Human Rights as guaranteed as guaranteed by Sections 34, 35 and 44 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,1999(as amended)”.

The group further alleged that it was surprised that despite the court orders, Danjuma was still pushing the police to instil fears in Manasseh by stopping him and his wife from traveling out to London on January 13,2014 for example.

Concerned Citizens therefore called on Jonathan, Acting Governor of Taraba State, Senate President, Inspector General of Police, President, Nigerian Bar Association(NBA), Chairman, National Human Rights Commission(NHRC)and civil societies/human rights groups local and international to prevail on Danjuma “to allow the young man carry on with his life without any form of harassment.
