The Peoples Democratic Party has assured its defecting members that its doors are still open to those of them willing to return to the party.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, who gave the assurance in a statement in Abuja, added that the PDP was the only party committed to the people’s interest and provide equal opportunity for all Nigerians to pursue and realise their political aspirations.
Metuh attributed the current surge of defections and return of influential Nigerians from the opposition to the PDP, to the sterling leadership qualities of its new National Chairman, Adamu Muazu.
The party spokesman maintained that the development was an eloquent expression of the confidence Nigerians reposed in PDP as the only sure vehicle for the sustenance of democracy.
He expressed optimism that the PDP membership strength would continue to soar.
