The Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has condemned in its entirety a story credited to him by an online medium that he endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial standard-bearer in the state, Senator Simeon Ajibola.

The spokesperson of the monarch and Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Salihu Woru Mohammed, described the story as grossly irresponsible, concocted, inciting and an attempt to drag the emir into partisan politics.

Woru said the emir, as a father of all the political parties in the state, could not slam his door against any political party, saying that the reception of any political party in the palace did not mean endorsement.

The Magaji Nda who said the story was unethical, therefore advised journalists to follow the ethics of their profession to the letter and do away with inciting stories capable of causing confusion as the 2015 general election gets nearer.

He added that the action of Magajis Forum in the Emirate which identified with the present administration in the state, was borne out of the government’s monumental achievements, stressing that not even the emir or anybody compelled them to do so.

He therefore, appealed to the people of the emirate to disregard the story, saying that the emir had neither endorsed any candidate nor approved any political party.

Ajibola had visited Gambari at the weekend in his palace where the emir reportedly described “the emergence of Ajibola as PDP governorship standard bearer in the state as sign of good things to come to the state.”
