The Federal Government has said that it had enough equipment to fight and curtail the activities of Boko Haram.

Mike Omeri, Coordinator, National Information Centre, who stated this at a news conference in Abuja, said contrary to insinuation in some quarters that insurgency elements had more sophisticated weapons compared to the military, the military were more equipped and well trained to curtail the activities of insurgents.

According to Omeri, a lot of assets and security gadgets are being deployed for the fight against Boko Haram and the Federal Government will not relent in its efforts to bring them to justice.

He said the recent incessant attacks by the terrorist group suggested that their days were coming to an end, and that this accounts for their desperation.

He appealed for calm among Nigerians and said that statements inimical to the security of the people should be jettisoned.

“We wish to state our concern over statements being dished out by various organisations, groups and some individuals that tend to further worsen the security situation in the country.

“We call on Nigerians to stop any war mongering aimed at heating up the already tense situation in the polity,” he said.

Omeri appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the government. “The Federal Government is doing everything to protect all citizens across the country.”
