Ex-Kogi commissioner dies in road crash

The immediate past Commissioner of Education in Kogi State, Grace Elebiyo is dead.

She was said to have died in an auto-crash along Kabba-Okenne road of the state while returning from a public function.

According to a statement on Wednesday by the Special Adviser, Media and Strategy to the Kogi State Governor, Jacob Edi, the former commissioner died on Tuesday evening.

The Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, was quoted in the statement as commiserating with the people of the state in general and particularly the family of the deceased over the untimely death.

Wada who received the news of the transition with shock recalled the selfless contributions of the late commissioner to development of the state.

Wada said, “This death has further depleted the rank of our community leaders.

“The late former commissioner was humble, service oriented and committed to the growth of education in the state.

“This is one death too many. May Her gentle soul rest in peace and may God grant us the fortitude to bear the loss.”
