Former Ekiti State governor and Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in June 21 gubernatorial election, Ayodele Fayose, and the state governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Monday traded words over plans to infiltrate the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, with a view to manipulating voters’ register.

While Fayose, through his campaign organisation, Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation, AFCO, accused the All Progressives Congress, APC and Governor Fayemi of plotting to influence INEC to manipulate voters’ register, the governor, through the Director of Media, Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, said Fayose had once again revealed the works of his inner mind and his party’s plot to rig.

AFCO at a briefing on Monday by its Director General, Dipo Anisulowo, said “We have incontrovertible evidence of the effort being made by the APC to manipulate the voters’ registers and we are also aware of frustration and stiff resistance they met while trying to buy up the leadership of INEC.”

The organisation equally described the statement credited to the national leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu that the election will be “rig and roast” as outburst of a frustrated man.

According to it, “we make bold to say that Ekiti people have rejected him and his stooge. We only advise him to wait till June 21 venting his anger and frustrations. We are not unaware of the clandestine moves of the APC leaders to infiltrate the INEC.”

On the alleged orgy of violence witnessed in recent time, Anisulowo said, “It is only an unpopular government that engages in this crude and barbaric politics. If the APC is popular, as it has always claimed, why is it that they are the ones attacking opposition?”

Dismissing Fayose’s allegation, the Director of Media, Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, Dimeji Daniels, said “We are tired of all this scare-mongering by the PDP candidate. Let him be a man of honour for once. We challenge him to come out with the so-called incontrovertible evidence that he has.

“Fayose is fond of screaming blue murder when he is the one guilty of same offence. We have incontrovertible evidence of how in 2011 he approached INEC and offered one of the officials N10 million. When the man declined and Senator Babafemi Ojudu walloped him in the election, he turned around to say it was ACN.
