Over 180 assembly workers employed by former Governor Kayode Fayemi have been sacked by the Ekiti State Government.

The affected workers who did not want their names mentioned or voice recorded, told journalists on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti that their sack was announced by the factional Speaker, Hon. Dele Olugbemi, during the monthly prayer meeting to usher in the New Year at the assembly complex in Ado Ekiti.

However, Olugbemi, while reacting, said the sacked workers were not properly employed by the Fayemi administration, adding that they were “loaded on the neck of the Fayose administration to create problems for the government”.

“The list of the 180 people was hurriedly brought to the assembly in August and the circular was not even properly sent to the assembly,” he said.

Beside, Olugbemi said the 180 were cronies of the All Progressives Congress leaders, leaving out those that had been on temporary employment at the assembly whom the House had been clamouring for to regularise their employment without success.

“What we did now is that we have asked all of them to go and we will sort out those we need since we are the ones to pay their salaries,” Olugbemi said.
