FCMB promises fun, excitement at Copa Lagos Beach Soccer tourney

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited, a major sponsor of the Copa Lagos Beach Soccer tournament, has promised to make this year’s edition more exciting than ever for its customers, football fans and the general public.

The tournament, which is being organised by Kinetic Sports Limited, will hold from December 12 to 14, 2014 at the Eko Atlantic Beach in Lagos and will feature the Beach Soccer teams of Cote D’ivoire, Ghana, Senegal and defending champion Nigeria.

The Beach soccer teams of Barcelona Football Club of Spain, Enyimba Football Club, Stationery Stores Football Club and Pepsi Academy; all of Nigeria, will also partake in the tournament, where soccer skills will be showcased.

In a statement, FCMB’s Head, Communications and CSR, Uchenna Mojekwu, explained that FCMB has been sponsoring Copa Lagos Beach Soccer tournament for the past four years owing to the added value it brings the people.

“Soccer is not only a great way of maintaining fitness and cardiovascular health, it is also a sport that unifies people, thereby benefiting humanity and the society. At Copa Lagos Beach Soccer tournament, the games, which are very competitive, can be watched in a relaxed atmosphere where lots of food and drinks will be made available.

It provides people with varying demographics and social economic classes an opportunity to network and bond”.

“This year’s tournament promises to be bigger and better than that of the previous years. Guests will be provided with three days of activities and engagement which include football matches, concerts, fashion shows, music, not leaving out great food and drinks.

“There will be something for kids, teenagers, youths and adults. Everyone will be entertained. This is an opportunity to hobnob and network with dignitaries and celebrities in a fun filled way,” Mokekwu said.

The FCMB Head of Communications and CSR also disclosed that the bank, in partnership with Beach Soccer World Foundation, will engage its management, staff, and customers, officials of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), and others, in a beach cleaning exercise scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2014.

The exercise will create public awareness and draw attention to the importance of taking good care of our beaches, maintaining its beauty and the overall need to protect the environment. This is in line with one of our three Corporate Social Responsibility pillar, titled Environmental Sustainability.

To ensure that children are not excluded in the fun, on Saturday, December 12, 2014 and from 9am – 12noon, FCMB will also be hosting a special event, ‘’FCMB Copa Kids Lagos’’. This is an event for children between the ages 3 – 15 years.

Some of the fun-filled activities that will be available include face painting, numerous games, jumpy castles, wall climbing, dancing competitions, train ride, sand castles competition and sand treasure hunt.

The kids will also have an opportunity to meet and play soccer with some of the celebrity soccer players that are involved in the tournament. Lots of gifts and toys will be given at the FCMB Copa Kids Fun Day. During the event, FCMB will also teach the kids about the bank and the importance of imbibing a saving culture. This is in line with the CBN Financial literacy initiative.

At the 2014 COPA Lagos tournament, guests and spectators have an opportunity to experience the unique banking services of FCMB as the sales team will be on ground showcasing the banks’ wide variety of products.

A state-of-the-art lounge would also be available for dignitaries and celebrities to relax, interact with each other and the Bank’s representatives and watch the football match. The lounge will be equipped with mounted TV screens just for this purpose.
