The temporary reprieve currently enjoyed by the embattled Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State may soon be shattered as a Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has retrained the police from barricading the entrance to the State House of Assembly.

With this order, the aggrieved lawmakers which have been angling to file impeachment proceedings against the government may be buoyed by the court verdict to press further aims.

It could be recalled that the police sealed the Enugu State House of Assembly last week shortly after 15 out of the 24 members of the house served an impeachment notice on the state governor, Sullivan Chime.

But the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu presided over by Justice D.V Agishi has granted an interim injunction retraining the police from barricading the entrance of the house of assembly.

In the application filled through Chuma Oguejiofor, the 15 lawmakers that served impeachment notice on Chime, also prayed for an order, restraining the police from arresting the Speaker, Barrister Eugene Odoh.

Before adjourning the matter till 19th of this month for further proceedings, Justice Agishi restrained the police from arresting the speaker.

Justice Agishi also restrained the police from preventing the fifteen lawmakers under the speakership of Chief Eugene Odoh from carrying out their legislative functions at the assembly complex.
