Rising from a three-hour closed door meeting with members of the National Working Committee, NWC, the state chairmen who are also members of NEC told the leadership of the party that the NEC meeting has become imperative and must hold now to strengthen and reposition the party.

The last NEC meeting was held weeks before the March 28 presidential election and after the loss of the PDP, there were calls for the convocation of NEC meeting and resignation of NWC members.

The then National Chairman, Adamu Muazu bowed to pressure and resigned. He was followed shortly by the then Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT, Chief Tony Anenih.
