The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) is partnering with The PJAM Foundation Educational Centre to train youths in innovation, technology and entrepreneurship in the country.
Prof. James Momoh, the founder of the foundation disclosed this during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with FUTA at the school premises in Igarra, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State on Monday.
Momoh said that as part of the MOU, the centre would train the youths on building and environmental studies, agricultural technology, vocational studies and renewable energy.
He said that the essence of establishing the centre was to discover and develop young and talented technologists for the development of the country.
“There is always a say to young entrepreneurs to build the future with technology.
“Technology is improving on daily basis. There are talented Nigerian youths that can attract foreign investors with innovations capable of boosting the economy,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola said that the MOU signed between the institution and PJAM would produce innovative and creative graduates for technological advancement.
“The MOU between PJAM and FUTA is to create different kinds of hubs for young start-ups to develop their skills in different areas,” he said.
Daramola said that Nigeria needed to embrace technology as a means of solving its economic woes.
“We have abundant talents here in the country but with no follow up on what some of our local inventors have done.
“The MOU between FUTA and PJAM will bridge gap by ensuring that we discover these talents and nurture them,” he said.
