A group, The Progressive Youths Movement (PYM) under the leadership of Comrade Lekan Odubawo has advised the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara to investigate the medical history of one Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu representing Remo Federal Constituency.

The group said that taking a look at Hon. Adebutu’s supervision of his party leaders being beaten at a Peoples Democratic Party Southwest meeting which was held in Akure where the lawmaker was said to have manned the gate to the venue clearly indicates that the lawmaker is suffering from mental disorder.

“How would a sane mind supervise the beating of his own leaders and fellow party men he wishes to govern?,” the group said.

The president of the movement further revealed that the lawmaker is said to have had psychiatric crisis otherwise know as mental disorder in the past which was managed at the Neuro Psychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta.

The group said that failure to request and further investigate medical history of Nigerian lawmakers might lead to retrogression, stating that political office holders who have questionable medical records especially psychiatric issues may likely not have anticipated level of expectation and lag behind in discharging their constitutional duties.

“Political parties should do proper research on medical history of party aspirants for various for various political offices in their quest for talent hunt,” while advising both the red and green chambers to make laws as regards mental disorder.
