The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba, has condemned in strong term the two pre-election violence where campaign vehicles, buildings and valuable properties worth millions of naira, belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) were damaged in Jos and Port-Harcourt respectively.
The IGP reminded politicians, party supporters and well meaning Nigerians, that politics is a means of enthroning custodians of the people’s common wealth, for the overall benefit of all, as such it should be played with every sense of decorum devoid of religious, ethnic and all other forms of primordial sentiments.
IGP assures Nigerians that the perpetrations of these unaccepted and heinous acts will not go unpunished as the Police will do all it takes to bring them to justice.
It would be recalled that unknown gunmen had attacked APC supporters last Tuesday on their way to attend the flag-off of the presidential campaign of its candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
Also at the weekend, the APC office in Rivers was blown up by yet to be identified attackers who also wounded several of the party supporters just as the campaign vehicle of President Goodluck Jonathan was set ablaze in Jos, Plateau State.
