Intending pilgrim slumps, dies in Ogun

An aged Muslim woman identified as Oladokun Silifat Ajinni slumped and died on Thursday in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital during the seminar organised by the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to sensitise the intending pilgrims on issues concerning the 2014 Hajj exercise.

The seminar which was held at the Secretariat Mosque, Oke-Ilewo area, Abeokuta was the last in the series of programmes held to prepare the intending pilgrims from the state towards a hitch-free 2014 hajj.

Sources told our correspondent that the deceased had been diagnosed of high blood pressure during the medical screening held in August and had been advised to seek medical attention.

Sources at the event claimed that she was looking restless, as she was breathing and panting heavily.

The decease who was accompanied by her son that brought food for her which she ate before she slumped. She later died on the way while she was being rushed to the hospital.

The head of the board’s medical team, Dr. Nasirudeen Bello, who confirmed the incident described it as “unfortunate.”

However, the chairman of the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Isiaq Yusuf, charged other intending pilgrims to abhor all acts that could tarnish the image of the state and the country while in Saudi Arabia.
