President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked four of his cabinet members including the controversial Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah.

Others relieved of their appointment include the Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade, Minister of the Niger Delta, Godsday Orubebe and Minister of State for Finance, Yerima Ngama.

Sources close to the presidency hinted that except for Oduah who had to be sacked because of the gale of controversy surrounding her activities in the aviation ministry, the other three ministers were removed to enable them pursue their respective political ambition, ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Olubolade, for instance, is believed to be interested in the Peoples Democratic Party ticket for the governorship contest in Ekiti State while Orubebe is said to be interested in Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s job in Delta.

Orubebe has also been roundly condemned for his inability to pursue the vision behind the establishment of the Niger Delta ministry.

Oduah’s undoing, despite her very close relationship with President Jonathan, was the controversy over the alleged N225million bullet proof cars, which she was alleged to have compelled the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to pay Coscharis Motors for two BMW bullet-proof cars.

President Jonathan is facing a crisis within his ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over his assumed intention to run for another term in the 2015 election.

The president had on Monday dismissed his chief of staff,  Mike Oghiadomhe, after overhauling his military high command last month.

He has been defending his record on corruption this week after a series of graft allegations in recent months.
