Gunmen on Monday kidnapped the wife and two-year-old child of the Chairman of Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Salihu Adaviruku.
Sources told our correspondent that the gunmen who had laid in wait at Adaviruku’s residence at Kuroko, Adavi LG, accosted the council at the main gate, commandeered him into his house and demanded N50m from him.
It was also gathered that the gunmen were enraged when the LG boss told them that he did not have the demanded money, the situation which sources say may have prompted the gunmen to abduct Adaviruku’s wife, Hasiya, and their two years old baby.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Command, Timpa Rendegha, confirmed the incident to journalists.
