Konga rakes in awards, launches fleet for better service delivery

The online retail giant, Konga.com has unveiled its fleet of over two hundred vehicles in its newly inaugurated KExpress logistics arm, designed to accelerate the delivery of goods to all that buy items on its platform.

Fulfillment operations director, Kong.Com, Wale Adisa said at the launch of the new fleet of logistics vehicles that the vehicles are part of the Konga Express logistics designed to add value to the logistics industry in the country.

According to him, Konga.Com is into business to add value to the Nigerian economy saying that the success it has recorded recently in the industry was because it made the customer king.

He disclosed that there are 7000 merchants trade under the platform of the Konga.Com brand saying that Konga is looking forward to the time when someone can sell a bag of cola-nut from the north through Konga.Com.  

He stated that Kong.Com currently have a direct workforce about 300 Nigerians stressing that the objective of the company is make ecommerce a thriving industry in the country.

Adisa dispelled the fear of delay in delivery, which might be caused by breakdown of operational vehicle adding that there vehicles on standby for such reasons, although he said the company has not had such problem since inception.

The firm was recently selected as one of the top 12 finalists at the ‘Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship’, and was also recognized with double honours at the recent 2014 Marketing World Awards.

The Marketing World Awards ceremony held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos was attended by several top executives in the marketing and advertising industry.

At the event, Konga was presented with the award of the ‘Online Retailer Brand of the Year’, as well as the award for ‘Best Use of Social Media in Marketing’.

Konga’s double awards celebrate the company’s excellence, creativity and outstanding achievements in the integrated marketing communication industry over the year.

The Nigerian company which was founded just over two years ago, has grown to have offices in Lagos, South Africa and China and over 700 employees.

With its marketplace seller’s platform, the company has hundreds of thousands of items available for purchase on its site with delivery covering the whole Nigeria.

Konga also has a very active social media presence with over one million fans on Facebook, a company blog and a strong presence on the various other social platforms.
