Lagos public service upholding core values – HoS

Lagos State Head of Service, Mrs Olabowale Ademola has asserted that the core values of probity, transparency, accountability and discipline which are sine qua non to the sustenance of an enduring public service structure are strictly been upheld in the State Public Service.

Ademola who spoke in Lagos over the weekend at a ministerial press briefing marking the one year in office of the State Government added that a clear understanding of the essence, purpose and advantages of an efficient, effective and motivated public service cannot be over emphasised particularly in attaining the best practices in public service delivery.

“I wish to say that the clear understanding of the essence, purpose and advantages of an efficient, effective and motivated public service had always driven His Excellency, the Governor in his demonstrated commitment to best practices in public service delivery.

“Thus the Office of the Head of Service has a clear mandate of providing leadership and ensuring that the core values of probity, transparency, accountability and discipline which justify the establishment of an enduring Public Service Structure are strictly upheld.”

She pointed out that the State Government’s conviction in this regard had informed the restructuring and realignment of Ministries, Departments and Government-owned Agencies across the State Public Service at the inception of the Ambode-led administration.

The Head of Service noted that the Office is conscious of its onerous responsibilities and also appreciates the enormity thereof adding that as a result its has embarked on programmes which are aligned with the stated objectives in order to ensure the realization of the State Government’s avowed commitment to professionalism in the public service, the welfare of the public servants, and the existence of industrial peace.

According to her one of such programmes is the Citizens Relationship Management (CRM) platform which is an electronic portal that will allow the citizens to interact with the Government electronically thereby minimizing the need to physically visit the State Government Secretariat, Alausa, as presently obtains.

While opining that the project is at the data gathering stage now however stressed that on completion it would enable the citizens to carry out End-to-End transactions, make general enquires and provide feedback on services online.

“The Citizens Relationship Management (CRM) Platform is an electronic portal that will allow the citizens to interact with the Government electronically thereby minimizing the need to physically visit the State Government Secretariat, Alausa, as presently obtains. The project is a reinforcement of the State Government’s commitment to technology in the improvement of services to the people,” she said.
