Prof. Bolatito Lanre-Abbas, first female Muslim to become a Professor in the 70 years old of University of Ibadan, will on Saturday July 8, deliver the sixth Lateefah Moyosore Durosinmi (LMD) Foundation lecture.
The Foundation, which is under the Chairperson of Prof. Fatima Abdulkareem, a Professor of Medicine, had been in existence since 2009.
In a statement by the Chairperson of the 2017 LMDF Planning committee, Barr. Jade Mohammed stated that the lecture would hold at Ogunbanjo Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state from 10 am.
She said that the lecture entitled “Women and Economic Recession: Survival Tips From Islamic Perspective” was the Foundation contribution towards finding a lasting solution to the economic recession in the country.
The statement added that a renowned economist and accountant, Alhaji Ahmed Tunde Popoola, Managing Director of CRC Credit Bureau Limited Lagos, will chair the occasion while Alhaji Muritala Adeniji, Managing Director, Starlinks Nigeria Limited, is the Chief Launcher of the book.
Mohammed said that there would also be a public book presentation entitled: “The Greatest Creed, Reflections, Tributes and Lectures” in honour of Dr Durosinmi, awards to some distinguished Nigerians, grants for women and scholarship awards to school children by the Foundation.
Other highlights of the lecture, which is geared towards the 60th birthday ceremony of Dr Lateefah Durosinmi, a former National Ameerah of Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), include visit to orphanage homes both in Osun and Oyo states and Jumah worship at Obafemi Awolowo University central Mosque, Ile –ife.
It would be recalled that the University of Ibadan Senate had in June approved the professorship of Prof. Ashiata Lanre-Abbas of Philosophy department while Dr Durosinmi was the immediate past Dean of Student’s Affairs at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
