Barely 24 hours to the swear in of the ministers and the inauguration of the new Federal Executive Council, FEC, President Muhammagu Buhari on Tuesday approved the compulsory retirement of 17 permanent secretaries.
The president also approved appointment and redeployment of others.
Prior to their disengagement, our correspondent report that some of the permanent secretaries held a closed-door meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
A source, who does not want his name in prints, said the President informed the permanent secretaries that are leaving the service during the meeting.
The source said those affected included those who were senior to the Acting Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita.
Details of those affected are still sketchy as at the time of filling this report.
Meanwhile, President Buhari has also approved the appointment of new Permanent Secretaries and redeployment of others in the Federal Civil Service.
In the new arrangements, 18 new Permanent Secretaries were appointed while 36 others were redeployed.
Those newly appointed are:
