Muslim media practitioners hold lecture on good governance to commemorate Mawlud

Good governance, among others, will dominate the 11th annual lecture of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) Abuja chapter on Monday in Abuja.

In a statement by the chairman of MMPN, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the lecture is to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Mawlud Nabiyy) which coincides with Monday Dec. 12.

Balogun said the lecture entitled “the Islamic position on good governance’’ would be held at National Mosque Conference Hall, Abuja.

The lecture, which was 11th in the series, would be delivered by an Abuja-based Islamic Scholar and Chief Imam of the Nigerian Navy, Shaykh Taofiq Miqdad Gidado.

Other expected guests were Alhaji Abubakar Jijiwa, former Director-General, Voice of Nigeria, as Chairman of the occasion, Dr Garba Abari, Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), FCT Minister, Alhaji Muhammad Bello as Chief Host while Ministers of Communication, Education, Information and Culture as well as Women Affairs are being expected.

Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, Secretary-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), head of Media establishments among other dignitaries and Islamic groups are also expected at the lecture.

The Federal government of Nigeria declares as public holiday every 12th Rabiul Awwal, in Islamic calendar year, which is equivalent to Monday Dec. 12, as a day to commemorate the birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad.
