NAHCON cautions pilgrims’ boards against delaying Hajj airlift schedules

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has called on Pilgrims Welfare Boards to avoid acts capable of delaying airlift of intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

The NAHCON’s Zonal Coordinator, Alhaji Umar Bala, made the call at a stakeholders’ operational meeting in Kano on Thursday.

He said the commission would collaborate with the pilgrims’ boards and other stakeholders across the country for the success of the entire Hajj operation.

“On our part at the commission, we are ready to collaborate with all the stakeholders in the zone to ensure effective service delivery.

“So there is need for the pilgrims’ boards to also collaborate with the commission for more enlightenment campaigns and pilgrims’ education on best ways to perform acceptable Hajj,” he said.

Bala assured pilgrims under tour operators that the commission would do its best to ensure smooth Hajj operation.

He said the commission had planned to establish Hajj Training Institute for training of Hajj managers at all levels towards effective abd efficient management of the pilgrimage.

He noted that the transportation of pilgrims in 2015 was successfully concluded three days to the deadline for the closure of King Abdulazeez International Airport, Jeddah.

In addition, he said, 80 per cent of the pilgrims from the zone were flown straight to Medina airport.

In her remark, the NAHCON’s Commissioner in charge of North West zone, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed, said the commission would train officials from the zone on ICT.

She said the commission had also made adequate arrangement for the success of the Hajj operation which would commence on Monday, Aug. 8.
