The Leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has tendered unreserved apology to Nigerians over protest by some Nigerian students.

The President of NANS, Danielson Akpan, tendered the apology in a statement signed by Mr Adeyemi Azeez, NANS National Public Relation Officer (PRO) on Friday in Abuja.

He called on Nigerians to disregard any protest against APC National leadership, adding that it was a misplaced priority.

“The national leadership of NANS received with utmost dismay the purported protest staged and led by the Senate President of NANS, Muhammad Gambo.

“The protest led by the senate president of NANS is not a collective resolution of the leadership.

“Not even at this point that NANS has a lot to battle with, amongst which is the issue of Ondo state govt. anti students policies.

“NANS wishes to inform the general public that the protest is not a collective interest or popular decision of the NANS national leadership.

“NANS therefore implore the general public to better see such convergence as a road show by some Nigerian youths.

“NANS call on the national leadership of APC not to get distracted by any unpopular and politically sponsored protests against the party’s resolve towards ensuring Nigeria have a mutual Executive – Legislative arm of government.

“As this will in no doubt, speed up the rate of development in the country,” he said.

He said that the association would not be a tool used in disturbing the peace of the country through some students’ leaders.

The NANS president appreciated well meaning and intellectual Nigerian students for their endurance and comportment so far, assuring them of continued meaningful and progressive representation.
