The Federal Government has ordered an immediate evacuation of the National Assembly following fears that an explosive material may have been planted in the sprawling complex.

This is coming barely 24 hours after a massive car bomb killed at least 71 people and wounded 124 more at a car station near the capital, Abuja.

Security agents asked lawmakers and other staffers to leave the sprawling complex in central Abuja after reports that an explosive material had been planted in the building.

However, NewMailNG has not been able confirm this claim as at the time of filing this report.

The National Assembly is located within the Three Arms Zone, Nigeria’s most fortified district, which lies a short distance from Nyanya, the scene of Monday’s bombing.
