The Nasarawa State coordinator of National Directorate of Employment(NDE), Monday Dalyop, has called for partnership to address youth unemployment and others social ills in the country.

The coordinator made the call in Keffi, Nasarawa State, said such collaboration could be done with non-governmental organistions.

Dalyop said that the collaboration could help in training youths under various skills acquisition programmes to make them self reliant.

“The NDE came into existence in 1986, saddled with the responsibilities of training people, especially the youths and women, in different skills. “

He said that the agency had been doing its best to fight youth restiveness and unemployment in the state.

“We trained and empowered many unemployed youths and women in the state in order to make them to be self reliant for the benefit of all.

“The Federal Government established the scheme to fight high rate of unemployment which has degenerated into other anti-social activities such as violent crimes, insecurity, armed robbery, drug and human trafficking, among others.

“I want to call for effective partnership with NGOs in order to address youth unemployment to fight poverty in the society.”

Dalyop said that effective collaboration with the NGOs will not only fight youth unemployment, but it will also improve the country’s socio-economic development.

He called on the people of the state, especially unemployed youths, to embrace the agency’s different skills acquisition programmes in order to be self-reliant.

The officer said that the directorate would initiate more people-oriented programmes to tackle youth unemployment, restiveness and poverty.
