The Niger Delta Avengers have blown up the Nembe 1, 2 and 3 trunkline, a pipeline owned by the Italian oil giant, Eni, a subsidiary of Nigerian Agip Oil Company.
In the statement posted on its website and signed by spokesperson, Brig. Gen Mudoch Agbinibo, the group said that “At about 3:00am to 5:00am the Niger Delta Avengers blew up Nembe 1, 2, 3 and Tebedaba brass trunk-line in Bayelsa/River States.
This comes on the heels of attacks by Niger Delta Avengers who on Wednesday night attacked three oil manifolds belonging to Chevron Nigeria Limited around the creeks of Warri North Local government of Delta state.
The group however announced that it had shut down all its social media accounts as a result of fraudsters operating in their name and that it will now be communicating with members of the public through its website.
The attack on the oil pipeline in Southern Yenagoa, Bayelsa’s capital was also confirmed by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSDC).
Spokesman Desmond Agwu said the blast occurred at the pipeline at Lasukugbene and that NDSC officers exchanged gunfire with some of the attackers.
Eni, which operates in Nigeria through its subsidiary Nigerian Agip Oil Company, could not be reached for immediate comment.
